Would you like to get some more floor space? If so, you might want to do what I did. I cut the front seat off of the center console to pick up some precious floor space. Step 1: You need a center console boat: Step 2: Measure twice and cut once Step 3: Hope your fiberglass guys does good work Step 4: Get a good bait tank

That is awesome Fishon...I have thought about doing the same thing a couple of times since my Mako has a huge console. I only have a 23 gallon tank in the console which is great for alewives and 4-6 gizzards but I can't really keep a bunch of large gizzards in it for any period of time. If I ever move back and can fish like I want to the bait tank and t-top are gonna happen.

That is definitely a sweet mod FishON! Todd and Bert also came up with a bait tank seat that is sweet and comfortable. They removed the seats behind the console and put their bait tanks there and then mounted the seat on the tanks. I sat in Todds and it's like sitting in a office chair. It really opens up options on a lot of boats that have limited space for a bait tank. If I get ballsy, I may do it to mine also at some point to open up some room on the boat and I could more easily plumb the tank for easy filling and draining, which would be sweet. www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Tempress-Elite-High-Back-Helm-Seat&i=16467&aID=601C5B&merchID=4006

That does look good - like the "striper console" from the old Sea Pro's. You can put the tank there or pull it off and out a cooler with a cushion seat for family riding. I know it took your guy a while to get it done but looks like he did good work. Didn't expect him to try and match the non-skid under the old console and it doesmt matter since its covered by the tank anyway. Nice!

I placed my tank in the same place on my 196 sea fox but I had a cusion made for the top of the tank for sitting and it also helps to insulate the tank when sun is hitting it works great wife likes it so I like it

...said it would take 2 to 3 weeks and it took around 3 months... That's just about the exact same timeline my "rewire" took.... Its "Boat Time"

I'm considering doing this "striper console" mod. I can chop the front of the console off, but need a fiberglass guy to finish it. "Dave's" cellphone number just rings with no answer, does anyone know if he is still around or have another recommendation for a fiberglass guy in the Lynchburg or SML area?
Also, if I do this, I'll have a drain hose and fill hose leftover from the console live well. Having never paid attention to the details on a SBTII, how would you approach plumbing in quick-disconnect fill and drain lines? (sorry for the duplicate question in another thread)

Having never paid attention to the details on a SBTII, how would you approach plumbing in quick-disconnect fill and drain lines? (sorry for the duplicate question in another thread) I talked with Ron Vest a long time back about putting a bulkhead drain on the tank. He said he did not recommend it for risk of leaning between the tank liner, but that if you did, he recommended cutting a hole large enough for your bulkhead on the inside of the tank, and then cutting a larger hole on the outside - large enough to receive a piece of PVC pipe, cut to length the width of the tank shell - basically using the PVC as a spacer to prevent from over tightening the bulkhead, casting deformation & leaking. Question is which side to drain...... if you have your pump where it will suck most of the water out of the filter side, then I'd put the drain on the bait side - run the pump to get all the water out of the filter side and drain it on out.....
