Fished 7:30 till 14:00. Had a great trip out on the previous run so I was hoping for a good follow up. As has been the case at times recently, the fish were not doing the same thing today as yesterday. First stop was where we had a great first stop yesterday and all it produced was another monster crappie. Headed down lake to the state park area and broke the ice there with a few stripers. Headed back up lake to see where muddy water would start to become problematic. Was happy to see that a spot that has been good for a month was in good shape. Sonar seemed to be indicating that the muddy water had dropped down below the clearer water, showing a distinct break at 60 feet. I had been catching some deep fish here, but now these fish had all lifted to 40 feet or shallower. Schools of bait were also more plentiful. Some fish catching began. It’s a little different jigging with what at times was 30 feet of line out. You don’t sleep through those bites. Made one more stop on the way in and it produced the day’s biggest at 31 inches. Ended up with 10 , with the biggest being 29 and 31 inches. Overall, the fish were a little bigger today. Put the knife to the crappie and 5 big perch that felt up to eating flukes. The crappie and perch were all fat with eggs.
