2/15 - Brrr.. 20 degree AT to start up to 40-is in the afternoon - partly cloudy - mud line upriver that ended right before the cliffs
2/16 - a bit warmer in the morning - low around 28 up to 45-ish in the afternoon and partly cloudy - mud line had moved to the cliffs
2/17 - 34 for a low and up to low 50's in the afternoon with some wind and mostly sunny - mud line moved past the cliffs and past Standiford creek
WT's were 44.5 to 47 in most places I fished
2/15 - started the morning with a full bait tank with mix sizes from 12" gizzards down to 6 inch gizzards - got a bit of a slow start due to some gas issues related to the cold weather and ended up at our creek we wanted to fish around 7:30. Has a steady morning with 5 stripers and 2 good largemouth caught. Largest was 34 inches with a 32", 2x30 inchers and a 22 incher mixed in there. We took a break for lunch and i headed out solo for the afternoon trip. Stayed in the same area and was having no luck so I moved out to the main channel and as I was pulling boards straight across the channel to get to some points on the other side I was able to catch a 30" fish on an un-weighted planer while pulling boards at 1.6MPH in 80 FOW.....go figure.
And then it happened - as I was pulling one of these points I had a big swirl on a bank side board and 2 seconds later the board took off and i set the hook on what would be a new PB for me - 38.5" fish!! It took a lot to get that big girl into the net but man what a feeling!
2/16 - started in the same area and hooked a 30" fish right off the bat.....and then nothing until a small 22 inch fish finally hit a weighted line. I managed 1 more smaller fish that afternoon and then another 30" fish right before dark not 100 yards from where I caught the one in the morning.
2/17 - uuughhh - the brown water moved me from where I wanted to fish so I spent the day trying a coupl enew places without much success - finally managed one 22 inch fish to keep the skunk off the boat but not much to show for fishing from 6:30 to 3PM
Hopefully this mud will die down some as the upper BW is muddy ....the mud moved from just above the cliffs to a 1/4 mile or so down from the cliffs over the weekend.
fishing pressure was very light - hardly saw anyone striper fishing all weekend.
Pictures to follow.
