Maybe this is for question Mike or someone can help me with Please, on my HDS 9 it started coming on with the test screen about every time, I did the soft and hard reset so then I tried the burn in mode, well from I see now that must have been a big mistake...it looks to me as its looking for a download or something, is there something I can do, or somewhere nearby that can repair these unit, Thanks for any advice!!

Sounds like something in the file system of the unit is corrupted. Could be bad flash memory on the unit or other.
You might try getting the latest download for that unit off the website and try a normal upgrade to see if it will see and take/load the upgrade card - you’ll need to download the upgrade file to a pc and then move it to a memory card per the instructions with the download. Not sure it that will work it it’s in a factory Diags mode tho. Might try calling Lowrance support when you’re with the unit and see if they have any suggestions
Not sure if Ben McCall at SML Marine Electronics would be able to do much with it or not - other than software updates there is not really much in field repair that can be done on these
