Coming off 36 and 20 counts I launched the boat and walked down to the dock in Rick Flair style. Long agonizing story short, hit yesterday’s spots and came away with one perch and one crappie. The streak is over, the certain creek is now barren, except for some giant 60’ deep crappie.

When we hit the crappie we started seeing fish that were acting distinctly different. They would enter and leave the screen slowly in lines that were not changing depths and not crossing each other. Our first clue of odd behavior was when I saw one pick up my partner’s jig and rise 15 feet with it then drop it. I told him what I was watching and he said he couldn’t figure out why he couldn’t get the slack out of his line. Finally got one to hit the fluke and hoisted in a large crappie.

I’m wondering if the influx of runoff water was colder than the existing lake water and flowed down to the depths and ruined their thermal refuge. Strange they’d just abandon that area considering how long they’ve been using it.

I think they were slowly filtering out of that creek as it didn’t show much sign of in flow and stayed clear where I was catching them. However, fish that I was catching up lake in 60’ of water lifted to 30’ when the mud arrived.

I bet they didn't move far. I'd say they are holding at the mouth of the creek.

If it would be helpful, I'd be happy to check on status of that creek and report back...
