All Day Long Baby!! 2/4

After the humbling experience that yesterday was, I was a bit guarded with expectations for today. First stop was in the certain creek. Was happy to put 11 in the boat in short order. However, since it was morning, these could not push my consecutive afternoon success at this spot to 10 days. I figured heck, if the fish are finally biting, I know some more spots that have fish. Second stop, more fish. We are rolling now. Move to the third stop flirting with a new boat record for total fish. Third stop, set the boat down on top of them and 2 in the boat in five minutes. We’ve done it, new record. Last stop, back in the certain creek to push the consecutive afternoon streak. No problem, the streak stretches to 10 consecutive afternoons. Total for today was 36. No way in the world I would have predicted anything like this after fishing hard yesterday in the same spots and catching one fish. Size wise the smallest of the day was 17” and we had 8 that were between 28” and 30”. A couple of notes. I discovered today that vertically jigging a lipless rattletrap type lure is effective at loosening tight lips. Also of note. These fish are butterballs and a few spat out 3 inch alewives. Glad we had a good one today because now here I sit with the rest of the week off and a dang Noah flood coming. Oh what could have been. Wait a minute, check that. Did I not learn anything yesterday?

Man - that is a great day on the water. I'me bery jealous of you guys that get to get out to the lake in the middle of the week.

I understand. I’m very blessed to live just off water and have a job that throws my schedule all over the place. I didn’t always care for that schedule, but it’s awesome now. Don’t know if I could handle a conventional work schedule now. The lake is a different environment during the week.
