I’m looking at building some custom live bait rods and wondered if we had any rod builders on here that could point me to a good blank for live bait fishing in SML
15-30 LB line test
Fast or med-fast tip
MH action (freshwater - or the equivalent saltwater - prob al or ML?)
Fiberglass or a glass/carbon mix
Ideally Looking something that would be $50/blank give or take

Mike - I have a good friend in Waynesboro (VA) who builds rods. Happy to send him this to see what he might be able to do for you.
Just the blank, right? You do not want a built rod, yes?

Correct - just trying to find out a source for a good blank for live bait - I’m looking to try my hand at building some.

I get mine from Mudhole.com. They have a pretty good selection and all the components.

I get mine from Mudhole.com. They have a pretty good selection and all the components. Thanks SMLdlv - I ended up getting some Rainshadow (Batson) composite blanks that I’ll be building on. Slowing getting going. Made a couple of Eva grips And have handles glued up on two blanks and now just finishing up a drying cabinet so I will no longer have any excuses to start wrapping some thread.... Picked up a bunch of stuff from Mudhole at the ICRBE conference and I’m sure more will be coming over time |

Good choice, Mike. I have a couple of rods built on Rainshadow blanks. They are superb performers.
