Hi, my name is Brad Burger from PA my family and I have rented a house the last 2 summers on SML for a week and have grown to like SML a lot. We fish Lake Raystown quite a bit and get some quality stripers but nowhere near the numbers that are at SML I have been following reports on here for 2 years and have bought some rod holders off the Market seems like a great bunch of people. We are considering a trip to Lake Anna this summer (we waited too long to book SML as we need a house for 18 people) I know the size of stripers at Anna are not as good as at SML but I was wondering about the public side versus private side and what effect the nuke power plant had on the lake also is Anna a clean lake the kids love to ski and tube any info would be appreciated not looking for fishing spots just general info Thanks in advance for any help

welome aboard, Brad! lake anna is a fabulous fishery. it may not have the monster stripers SML has but there are plenty of good ones to be caught. don't waste your time fishing on the hot (power plant) side for stripers. focus instead on the cold (public) side. plenty of good places to put in - anna point and high point marinas are next to the 208 bridge and about as midlake as you can get. short run from there to the upper reaches of the rivers or the dam. your challenge in the summer will be boat traffic. where SML has 22,000 acres anna has 9700. it's narrow (except for the area closest to the dam) so there's no escaping the wakes and rollers coming from pleasure, ski, and party boats. it gets narrower (quickly) the further up into the rivers you go. anna draws people from all over the eastern seaboard (like your crew). it gets stupid crazy ~1 May and stays that way until after Labor Day. when you lock in your lodging shoot me a PM and i'll direct you to the closest launch/fishing locations. in the meantime buy a GMCO Lake Anna map. a lil homework in advance will go a long way. then spend a little time here - www.va-outdoors.com/ this site is set up a lot like this one, only it's focused on anna.
