Finally got back to SML after a few month hiatus and fished the CATT today with a good friend. Hadn't been down since June so going in cold would be an understatement. Water temp ranged from 57 to 59 and clarity was 5ft plus most places we fished. Launched from Parkway so decided to start in Craddock since it was close and a long run in the cold didnt sound like a great time. Started throwing a squarebill since there was some decent chop on the water and came up big just a few casts in. Hooked what ended up being a 4.5lber and as my partner was coming in with the net, an even bigger fish followed it all the way to the boat and tried to take the bait from it and got hooked too. A superb net job later and we had 10lbs 15 min into the tournament. Apparently we used all our mojo early because we struggled the rest of the day. Only managed a few more bites with 1 more 14in keeper and 1 more short smallmouth. Ended up finishing with just 3 fish and right at 12lbs. Still a beautiful day on the water with a story that I will get to tell for years.
