October 11, 2019 Friday 2:00pm - 7:45pm Sunny, light breeze Schools of small bait no blow ups seen Trolled three to four lines with plugs Trolled 2.0 -3.5 mph with 2 stroke prop. Tried under 15 feet but mainly 20-35 feet of water Used 80 pound braid and muskie leaders Nothing happened till moonrise 630pm -715pm caught two. Smaller one had part of a Floy tag in-um. Released

Interesting - looks like the tags used by DGIF that someone snipped off but can’t tell for sure. It’s been at least 5-6 years or more since last round of tagging sponsored by DGIF - if one of those that fish has been stunted for a long time now....

I did keep the smaller partly tagged striper. Does anybody know if they are coded wire tagged. I know some folks with tag readers and have the head in my chest freezer. I like fish stories and want to honor this one.

The tags used in the DGIF program are just plastic tags - have a number and address printed on them. People can cut the tag off and release (which appears to be what was done there or harvest the fish and send the whole tag back - there is a $5-$50 reward for submitting the tag - ideally submit the closely marker to where the fish was caught and the date with it.
