Hey, just wondering how many of you guys use beads on your free lines. Rigging up for fall season and noticed that beads add a tiny bit of weight that draws the bait downward. Am I overthinking it? Still trying to decide if they are something I should use this season.

The only reason I use beads is to protect the knot on the swivel from the weight/or the planer board banging into it. I don't think the weight of the bead makes a difference, but there are some pretty small beads available.

+1 on what T-n-T said - I use beads primarily to protect knots. FYI - beads are cheaper at the craft store than they are thru a tackle retailer. Cheaper, too.

I use 8mm beads to protect my rod tip from the planer board or my swivel along with knot protection. They are also pretty cool to look at if you get them from a craft shop.
I get mine in bulk from Etsy. Very inexpensive and high quality.
