Hi everyone. I am new to the area living with my aunt and uncle on Windy Gap mountain near Explore Park. Here for medical school. From Florida and big into fishing and hunting. Did a lot of inshore fishing for snook, reds, trout back home. Never caught a striper before but really want to be a part of this awesome fishery. Unfortunately I don't have a boat up here but I do have a kayak... Any advice on where to launch out of and tactics for shore/kayak fishing would be very much appreciated!
Thanks! Steven

In a month, the launch at the end of rutrough road will get you close to stripers. As will the public ramp at Hardy bridge. Lots of kayak anglers in those parts.

Also, I dont know how, but guys do well live baiting from kayaks around here.
Read into the artificial section here and you'll learn a bunch.
Gizzards will be the bait of choice soon.

Welcome Aboard!!! If this dang heat don't let up soon, may be November before the fishing gets good.
