Took my nephew for his first trip late spring only caught a bunch of catfish on that trip. We headed out early yesterday searching from the bridge all the way below the park before we found a few to pull baits on, wasn't long and he had his first 30 inch striper on a down line. Caught one other dink was it maybe 20 inches. I would say he is hooked, seen a lot of other people out pulling. We left by 11 with the lake getting busy can't wait for the colder weather.

I almost forgot the craziest part, we put in at the old public landing at 4am as i was coming down the parking lot it looked to be a pile of gear sitting almost in the middle of the road. I went around it only to realize its someone asleep in the lot still wearing only swimming trunks on the pavement? I thought it could have been a boat at the ramp and they were carrying it down there but nope, then as we pulled out from the dock oh here is the boat floating around in the cove lights on with nobody aboard! Come on cold weather wth?

It seems you have hooked your nephew on the right thing. Great job. The guy sleeping in the road needed someone like you when he was young.
While you were breaking the ice, he was coming down from smoking the ice!
