Headed to the lake tomorrow for 10 Whole days!!!!! I am going to have my kids on the boat and some nieces and nephews checking in throughout the week next week. I am on the lower BW in cool branch. I tried for perch a little over the July 4th weekend but couldn't really get on much. Any Tips are much appreciated and Live Blessed.

I don't know but I got here today for a week stay and put my boat in the water for the first time this year. And it started--which is an unusally good sign. If I find them I'll let you know.

The few we found last weekend were still pretty scattered, and chasing bait around at light speed. Typical places though, creeks and coves 15-20'. We were around the state park. Lots of them were suspended. The ones we got were all right on the bottom though.

Yall ever tried trolling crankbaits and pet spoons for those guys? Good way yo cover water, keep the breeze flowing, and fun to fight at 2-2.5 mph...We catch the heck out of them down here doing that way. (Three way rig, crankbait for depth, spoon for whackin` em)

Yes ive done it several times with little luck. Same setup, using 3ways, but with mepps rooster tails or similar inline spinners. Same fish that will barely eat the trolled setup can be caught all day jigging spoons. Never could figure it out.

#1- pack the cooler with ice...then sit in it! (Its is hot!). We got on some in coves around and across from state park but the schools would fly by and we'd get 2 or 3...then they were gone. Tried to chase em but they were moving quickly. Like johnr said we were marking lots of em suspended but all ours came closer to the bottom and the boys used sabiki type setup and caught them all on the bottom end hooks. Best luck was a slow pulled spoon and a hook above it with a piece of white gulp minnow above it. Magic depth for us was around 15. We caught about 10 before the heat chased us back to swim. Had a good lunch.
