I got a question for you experienced gentleman, went board fishing last week and as soon as I stopped the boat I was on this stuff, are those trees? I knew they couldn’t be fish because almost the whole time I was fishing, they were under me, and I pulled for about a quarter of a mile. at first I was worried it was some sort of interference, or something was wrong with the ducer but I don’t think it was. As you can see I was in 80 feet of water, and whenever I got shallower, that stuff faded off. Any feedback is appreciated thanks!

Yes sir, those are trees. If your humminbird has DI capabilities you can switch over to it and see the definition. Check out the pic below.

Yessir, standing timber. In the 2D mode they usually look like tall cones pines) or lollipops (hardwoods). The 3D mode shows you the branches.
If you have CHIRP the resolution will allow you to see fish hanging around the branches. You'll be able to discern predator fish from bait fish.
