Hey guys, this is my first year learning the waters of sml and I’ve been striper fishing since last fall, I’ve never fished during a summer yet, but I quickly found out that gizzards will not stay alive in a live well in summer temperatures! So I’m getting a bait tank ofcourse and while I was thinking it over I wondered what water temperature you guys have found keeps your shad the best? Thanks!

I never checked the temp. Typically in summer I'd use surface water and several 2 liter bottles of ice to cool it. Id cut the bottle off of the ice and let it melt. Later on, I made a pump that let me pull water from about 12-15' deep. Both methods worked.
By the way, I don't think gizzards are the striper bait of choice in summer. Alewives.
