We hit the water around 9 Saturday morning and promptly caught 30 gizzards for cut baiting later on.
Pulled a full spread for two hours and lost one good largemouth at the net and had several halfhearted chases and blowups. The rain ran us off at 1230. We got a pizza at bennys and launched again for the afternoon once the rain cleared.
We switched to crappie fishing and caught some very shallow, but out over deepwater. They were up and off of the cover, roaming.. It was just a couple at every spot though. Searched spawning areas but they were muddy and we had no bites there. We also found some yellow perch around the area, mostly smallish though. Minnows and jigs split the haul.
We were fixin to cut bait but my mates were hungry and ready for a warmer climate. I couldn't blame them as we dressed for the morning sun and ended up fishing in chilly and wet conditons.
The fish are on the move I do believe. Transition time.
