So I’m upgrading to the new elite TI to unit to add side imaging to my arsenal. In the past I’ve had my down imaging in traditional sonar transducer mounted on the right rear of my pontoon. Although I’ve gotten used to trolling in reverse when looking for bait it although it would be nice to not have to do that. My question is is it better to use my old traditional and down imaging transducer on the trolling motor or leave it outback and add the new transducer to my trolling motor. Hoping y’all have some insight that I may be overthinking, I just started being able to find and catch bait within the last couple weeks but I’m sure that’ll change when the weather does. Hoping side imaging will make life easier or at least more productive.

I have my totalscan on the rear and screen on the console. I have my DI transducer on my trolling motor. When i am searching for bait I am at the console running the big motor. If bait is off to the right or left I position the boat then hop up front and throw the net once I am over it and can see it on the DI. I have an elite 7 ti on the bow with DI ducer on trolling motor and an elite 12ti on the console with totalscan on the stern. It’s helped me a lot.

I have transducers on the front and back of my boat. If I throw from the front, reverse is still my best bet when I'm alone. When going in reverse, the back transducers tell me something is about to be at the front. Once it comes into view on the front, my net is already in the air.
I can't live without a front unit and a transducer on the trolling motor. When I'm upfront, my screen is typically set to show me side imaging from the back and traditional sonar from the front.

That sounds like the ticket, that’s exactly the kind of info I was looking for I’m still new to catching bait off my electronics but I’m getting there. unfortunately I only have the 1 lowrance unit for now. My traditional sonar and DI unit is a Garmin but I like the idea of seeing it on rear than throwing as it’s showing up on front unit. I’m able to link my iPad to the new unit so Im leaning towards having that garmin unit fixed up front and on trolling motor. Then also having a ram mount for the iPad so I’ll have both views from front when needed.
I also just upgraded to the terrova 80lb with Ipilot hope it knows how to troll in reverse as well as my foot!
