Has anyone used bream as bait for stripers? In order to avoid a tanget, bream are legal for bait as long as they are caught on a line nad hook. I've read that guys in Texas and California use bream and perch for stripers.

I've tried them before but never felt like they were any better. On SML, if you give me a tank full of 8-12" shad and 4-7" alewives, I'm happy. That's the main forage on SML and what the stripers will key in on the most. I'm sure you could pretty much drop anything (bream, creek chubs, trout, shiners, etc) into a big school of stripers and one would eat it. Your shad and herring will produce consistently year round though.

Only thing I have caught while using bream as bait is catfish.
