hey Gents,
just trying to get an idea of what the water conditions are on lake after all of this rain we have gotten and continue to get....looks like we are getting a little temperature spike Sunday and i'm debating if its worth driving up Saturday afternoon for the Sunday morning bite. even with the 20mph winds.......
i'm sure the BW side is pretty chocolate like but was wondering if its fishable or just a complete mess.
any info is greatly appreciated.

May or may not be helpful but the Roanoke arm feeding Kerr is choco milk. I drove over the feeder end (to SML) of the Roanoke on my way out here - nasty. Think Drag is out on SML this week - ping him, he'll tell you.

Blackwater above rocky mount has been coffee since Wednesday. Not much volume yet so unlikely that its made a lake impact.
Id make the trip. They gotta eat and theyre used to the muddy water by now.

Report from Hardy Bridge this afternoon. Lake is not overly full. Plenty of muddy water coming down, but it is noticeably absent of large debris. Mostly just surface scum and small stuff from what I saw. This makes sense considering the scrubbing and flushing the banks would have received last fall.

Drove over both rivers on my way home yesterday, both are raging choco milk. Roanoke River was out of its banks by 3-4'.

I fished mostly mid lake near the state park yesterday, which had its usual >5 ft visibility. I did venture up to Hales Ford and noticed a big drop in clarity, probably 2ft tops. Seemed to clear back up around Becky's on the way back down river.

Just saw this post on facebook from Captains Quarters near Halesford. Looks pretty stained to be that far down river.

Still gotta try it tomorrow just got my striker ice suit in. I hope to be able to get some shad first thing thinking about fishing from the bridge down below the park. After two skunks the last two trips out i think the new guy on the boat is bad luck, been dating my daughter for the last year, i might have to put the anchors back on the boat for tomorrow?
