Some where along the line I aquired a roll of prism detail tape. Was wondering if anyone ever puts it on metal planer boards .

I've put it on some of mine - cannot say I have established any benefit (or harm) of it being on them however

Kenny Short puts them one side of the boards he sells (Trophy Stalker), and the boards on his guide boat have them on both sides. He thinks they help.

I agree with Mward I have some with and without and have not noticed any real trend either way. Lately I have been seeing more boards made of clear plastic for sale and wondered how that would help not seeing the board at all. We do tend to pay more money for fluorocarbon so they cannot see our leaders so maybe not seeing the board could help with easily spooked fish. Truth be told I have no doubt one could be caught with a beer can and bailing twine on the right days.

Ids say the majority of my largest stripers have come within 5-8' of the planer board. I'm not sure the fish care. Theres plenty of videos of fish trying to eat waterwolf and similar cameras, so I think we give them too much credit.

i agree with johnr here. Once these stripes get to be a few pounds they are pretty much the apex predator in the lake and I don't think they have much fear of objects in the water.

I had a stiper come up and hit one of my redneck boards last spring, then was quickly re-aligned to my shad 6' behind it.
