1/5 and 1/6 on the BW, great fishing and great weather

Sat - WT 46-47 degrees - muddy and debris at B33 and above clearing at the cliffs - WINDY 20 MPG with gusts to 30 MPH AT 40 - 50 degrees
I didn't get any fishing in over the holiday break and I was going a bit stir crazy at the house so my wife kicked me out, told me to go fishing and leave the house to her for a weekend and I thought..."Who am I to argue with such wisdom?"
Arrived at the lake Friday evening after dark and didn't want to go out in search of bait in the dark due to debris in the lake but that evening and the next morning I was able to put a dozen or so decent 6-8 inch gizzards in the tank and got started fishing Saturday morning. Started at some main channel points and then tried a nearby creek. As soon as I entered the creek mouth I started getting action and soon had a nice fat 30 incher on board. Action stayed good the rest of the morning and by 10:20 I had boated 6 fish 34, 33, 32, 31, 30 and 12 with the 12 incher coming on a pitiful little alewive I put out when I ran out of gizzards.
At about 11:00 AM I had a #2 attack and had to rush back to the condo. I feel this subject needs a post of it's own on the best methods to handle these "delicate" issues when they arise....whats every-bodies go to strategy when this happens?. I was luckily close enough to home to not need drastic measures and do a "Reely Blessed" bucket dump.
Spent a good 2 1/2 to 3 hours that afternoon trying to get bait. Peanuts were thick and bigger gizzards were hiding in amongst them in 25-30 FOW so everything was done via taped net. Finally got enough to fish the rest of the day and Sunday. Fished for another 2 hours or so and got another 32" fish in before dark.
Sunday - same plan as the day before. However the day definitely started a bit slower and the first fish didnt come until quite a bit later in the morning. Things soon heated up and I finished the day with 34, 34, 33, 31 and 29 by 1PM and called it quits to get back Raleigh.
This was a great trip for larger fish which have been mostly absent on the BW this Fall and Winter. All fish were thick and very healthy and released to be caught again. For perspective all of 2018 I had 30 fish caught greater than 30 inches and had 10 on this trip alone! Hope this trend continues further into 2019.
