Decided to take advantage of the warm(ish) weather this weekend and go wet a line before the holiday craziness ensued. Got to the lake around 5 on Sunday and barely had time to get hooked up and into the water before dark. Water temp was 48-49 and clarity was very good considering all the recent rains. Started off hitting a few secondary points with a medium running crank and chatterbait hoping to hook into a striper or two before heading back in for dinner. Had one striper crush my chatterbait in about 10 ft of water but did not get hooked up. 30 minutes or so later another solid hit and managed to boat this one. Solid healthy fat 32" fish. No more action after that for the night.
Woke up early Monday morning to howling winds and white caps at 630, so i decided to sleep another hour and let the temps come up just a tad more. Started around 830 with jerkbait, crankbait, and the bama rig hitting some docks, secondary points and even main lake points. Ended up focusing more on secondary points with the winds blowing 20+ and that seemed to be the ticket. Only fished 3-4 hours and boated 1 LM and 1 SM, both solid 3# with fat bellies and great color. Both also came on the A rig, and I never got a bite on anything else I threw that day. Still a beautiful day on the water despite the wind.
