NOTICE OF UPCOMING CLOSURES AT SML PUBLIC ACCESS LOCATIONS Crews are wrapping up remodeling and parking area work in two public access areas at Smith Mountain Lake in December. The Hardy Ford Public Boat Access Facility will be closed to the public on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Contractors have completed much of the remodeling and paving work at the site but the location will be closed that day only so striping can be completed. The site will be open on Dec. 20.
Improvements to the Scruggs Public Boat Access Facility will close that site Dec. 27-29. Signs will be posted as reminders. All work is subject to weather conditions. Appalachian Power has developed and maintains the free public boating access sites at Smith Mountain Project. They are operated by Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
