Weather: Bluebird skies, mornings starting in the upper 30's, rising to 50s, light winds overall
Water: mid 50's where we fished - saw range from 45-56, lightly stained to full out muddy
Techniques: 6-8" gizzards, with a few 10" on free-line & lightline planers & light-lines / floats, and a couple of downlines.
Finally had a chance to get to the lake for a full weekend and the weather was going to more or less cooperate - well, it wasn't going to be a flood, though could have done without the blue-bird skies.
Khris joined me for Saturday and we started a little after daylight with an empty tank and started out in search of bait. It took us the better part of the morning to get bait to work with - a lot was holding deep and a lot was on the smaller size. We hit multiple creeks and finally once the sun came out good and we hit some muddy flats in 2' or less of water we were able to load up the tank with some decent 8" baits. Did get a couple of 14+" bonus baits - carp - that went into the tank for grins
We started our pull almost mid-day with blue-bird skies overhead. Marked some fish on the bottom but nothing wanted to eat. Did put out a few downlines hoping to pull some from the bottom - had some nervous baits on and off but it was more or less dead.
We pulled a long stretch of the channel, and then moved to a typically good November creek without any love. About 1.5 hours before dark we moved on down the lake a bit more and hit a spot about mid creek and found a few fish that wanted to play finally. Had several missed hook-ups but landed several - moved deeper into the creek to finish up the day looking for a pig but no going....
Tyler and Brock were joining me for Sunday morning - had most of the tank of bait still ready to roll and we headed out just after it was light enough to see all the landmines awaiting in the fog - along with the likes of a couple of other friends waking us by We tried a stretch of the main channel just above my creek - marked some good fish immediately in the middle of a bunch of the debris but passed over them and didn't get back on them. More pulling with no action for an hour or so and then we decided to make a run down-lake.
We pulled some main & secondary points in the baren creek and it was not until we turned back out and pulled over deep water that we marked some pods of fish - and finally had a fish to avoid a skunk for the day.... only fish we saw but it was something....
Really ready for Fall fishing to get here - big bait to show and the fish to move in the creeks!
