Interesting catch on the lateral line - hadn’t noticed that before. Makes you wonder if it found its way over through stocking or if reproduction occurred by chance.

If that's a white bass, then it is a pretty good one. I don't catch many white bass at Smith. I fished them years ago on Holston River and down here on the Catawba River, casting spinners to the banks during spring spawn. It was always a good time, almost always caught a number of fish and we had several fish fry's - gut 'em and cook them with heads and tails attached. Great eating!
As for the Hybrids - don't know if having hybrids populated in the lake at Smith is good or bad for the "Eco" system of the lake. But purely as a compliment for sport fishing, I'm in favor. Love the fight, and tenacity they bring.

Well I can tell you that if it was a white bass it would probably be a new world record....I can assure you I ve caught a ton of hybrids on Lake Anna and this was without a doubt a hybrid...

Yea, that's what I was thinking, at least a state record! I've caught them here that looked like that too, just dismissed it because they're not supposed to be here.
