9/5 Perch Report

We have good things happening on SML. While I was at the boat ramp I saw members of the VDGIF getting loaded up at the dock.
I could plainly see they had a lot of vegetation aboard their boat.
Interested, I asked them about it.
The gentleman told me it was a shallow water plant and would take 10 years to establish. Wish I could remember what name he called the plant. Fingers crossed it will help more smaller fish to survive, they need a good place to hide.

I also caught several small stripers while perch jerking.
I promptly moved to another location after that. Looks like this years stocking to me.




I had to work to catch perch today, there were a lot of small fish to sort through. They started biting good around 6:00 pm. I left um chewing.
I also caught 7 yellow perch and 2 channel cats in the mix.



Boy was it hot and humid today.
Come on fall 🍂🍁!!

Was it water willow? Or maybe celery?

Some type of willow I think, but don't quote me on it.

Willow grass is a good thing. Will also help w/ erosion control.

Celery??? Ugh. Hate celery - of any kind. I am the only coonazz who doesn't cook w/ it, even in gumbo and jambalaya. Gimme anything else green (pu-lease) but no stinkin' celery.

Ah Dude!! I mean coonazz.
Ya gotta have celery in the gumbo.
If there's no celery the only thing green in my gumbo would be bay leaves.🍲🍺
