I talked my lady friend into an evening of perchin. We started off slow looking around a while before finding some. The bite heated up and we sorted through the smaller fish to get some up to the 10-12" range. We caught 50 or more and kept 25 before a large boat with a deep rumbling exhaust came in our little part of evening heaven and circled us like a shark. I have no idea why they did that 😤. Most of the perch disappeared after that and we only caught three more. Also caught a really nice 20" large mouth bass in the mix and saw a ton of deer.

I have noticed this with the perch, they do seem a little finicky, seems a lot of boat traffic will make them scatter. Every time I get on them near back of bull run them dang skiers show up and ruin my party

Airborne, I really do like the helix! Yes, yes they were good eatin(burp)... Hambone, being new to perch fishing I was surprised the fish left the area because of one loud boat.

One boat will ruin it every time. It is surprising. That’s why no wake coves are always worth a look!!

Just sold my boat and bought a new 2018 and was getting ready to outfit it with Lowrance/Simrad -- but after seeing those screenshots and reading online, I'm now leaning towards the 'Birds. I never recorded anything close to those pics above with my TotalScan xducer...

Those shots from the hummingbird are amazing. Don’t know what year the unit is, but blow away my lowrance hds from 2015. That being said the images I’ve seen on you tube from the new simrad nss evo 3 - 3D structure scan blew my mind. I’ve never been all that great at reading my HDS structure scan but have been getting better with experience. That being said this new simrad stuff seems dummy proof. It seems to be all spelled out for you. It’s amazing how quickly this tech is evolving.

That's a smart suggestion John.
Congrats on the new ride Greywalls. What ever brand you decide on, get the best you can afford. And keep in mind the sonar does not catch the fish.
Jmr, my helix is almost a year old and prolly obsolete already.
