I recently added a HDS 12 to my boat and absolutely love it. But I’m not in love with the map portion that came with it. I was getting ready to buy the navionics map card for it and thought I would see if you guys agree. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Love my Navionics map in my system - very accuratley mapped for SML - shows all of the docks and channel markers accurately and I have only seen a couple of instances where the depth reading on the map may be questionable.

+1 on Navionics (Platinum). TONS of detail.

Is the Navionics better than the Lake Master maps?

Not better but certainly more robust in terms of bodies of water covered. LM is still building (charting) their portfolio. When it's complete it'll be the industry leader.

On SML specifically are the Lake Master Chips as good as the Navionics? Does one provide more detail vs the other?

I haven't seen a LM version of SML. My Navionix Platinum has superb detail.
