Jeff Turner - author of "50 Trophy Waters in 50 States in 50 Days" will be on hand to speak to the Club about the angling adventure that he and he son had crossing our Country in a whirlwind tour, chasing trophy fish across the map.
Jeff Turner was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1961. He received a B.S. in Geology from Kansas State University in 1983 and his M.S. in Geodesy from Ohio State in 1987. Jeff is married to his wife, Beth, of 30 years and they have two adult children (Lauren works as an Event Manager in San Antonio, TX and Taylor works as a Mechanical Engineer in Bridgewater, VA.
Most of Jeff’s professional career was focused on research and development of new military airborne reconnaissance and mapping systems with a special emphasis in 3D laser technology. Over his career he served as Chief Technology Officer for defense companies such as Perspective Visuals, Inc., GeoSpatial Technologies, Inc., and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Jeff was also an accomplished business entrepreneur and hands-on software developer Notable accomplishments include development of the Smithsonian Institution’s first line of educational CD-ROM products sold worldwide; and the development of a computer-based Business Strategy Game used today in corporate and university training programs throughout 26 countries.
Jeff formerly served as Chairman of the Board for two organizations. The Father & Daughter Alliance which focused on educating underprivileged girls in 3rd world countries and Grace Ministries, a Christian-focused counseling ministry in Northern Virginia.
Jeff also enjoys adventure hiking. Two significant accomplishments include completing the 500 mile Camino de Santiago across Spain in 2014 and 120 mile Tour du Mont Blanc through the Alps in 2017.
In 2009 Jeff and his son Taylor (age 17 at the time) embarked on a charity bucket list idea to honor a passing friend. Their goal was to attempt to fish all 50 States in 50 consecutive days. They titled their adventure “50 Trophy Waters in 50 States in 50 Days”. www.fish5050.com
