I caught this monster Snakehead on a recent kayak trip on the Potomac River...turned out to be 6oz from a new rod and reel world record. The fish was a absolute monster and a blast to catch. If you have not tried Snakehead on the Potomac, I highly recommend it...plus they are great eating.

I do not watch all of most videos BUT yours was well done. I enjoyed the few grunts while reeling it in BUT I wish like all we could of seen some of the jumping out of the water from that beast. NOW go out there and break that dam record!!!!!!!!!
Junnkkkeeee Out!!!!!!!

I am glad everyone enjoyed this video, It means a lot to me to hear such great feedback. You can click here to get all the latest videos, mostly VA area lakes, rivers, and some salt: SubscribeI see from some of the comments that there are a lot of misconceptions about what must be done with these fish if caught. I was under the impression for the longest time that they must be killed immediately. This I found out through this journey was not true...you are actually allowed to release a live Snakehead...as long as you release it in the water where it was caught. However the VGIF does recommend killing the fish, there is no penalty for releasing it back.

I was under the impression it was illegal to release them....Need to do some reading myself...It is hard to keep up with all the revising and new stuff.

The Snakeheads numbers are going down on the Potomac over the past few years and the bass population is doing great.. It appears the Snakeheads have had zero negative effects on the bass numbers in the Potomac river. I really enjoy getting out on the river and targeting them. I sure am glad they found there way in the Potomac river.
BTW - There has never been a rule or law that Snakeheads had to be killed and couldn't be immediately released. People have just been misinformed.
Snakheads are one tough and beautiful fish IMO. Good eating as well.

You can't transport live Snakeheads... So you have to release them or keep them to eat.. That is it.
