I need to get a new TM plug. Any thoughts on what is the best style and why?

No question - get the Battery Tender plug - last one you will ever need to buy - super robust & rugged - solves the issues many of them have with the wiring coming loose & generating heat/melting. www.batterytender.com/trollingmotorplug

Ahhh - and they now have a "linear plug adapter" which makes it even more compelling if you are space constrained and cannot work with the "L" shape

I know I didn't ask this question, but I really wish you guys had spoke up about there being better options to choose from when I was having problems out of my plug . I bought the same OE minn kota plug. 😞
Can't y'all read my mind?? Lol
Dang plug vibrates loose and I lose connection.
Live and learn ! 😉

Live and learn ! 😉 Go ahead and order the Battery Tender plug - it's a little more costly than the others, but will save you down the line in replacements, frustration and perhaps worse - I had one of the Marinco twist-lock plugs - which is one of the "better" ones - melt down on me while on the water - its always possible it could be worse and start a fire when those wires get loose and heat starts. The Battery Tender plug requires "some assembly", in that you have to crimp / solder on ring-terminals to the end of your wire and these bolt onto studs in the plug - but the flip side is as long as you make a good crimp with proper tool, and torque down the nuts properly, you're not going to have to worry about the wiring - then the plug has a cam-screw that draws it into the socket and holds it in there tight - have not had it come close to trying to back out / come loose yet. The downside of the plug was the way it was designed with a right-angle output for the wire on the trolling motor side of the plug and this could make mounting it somewhere a little tough - but with the new adapter they have, which basically replaces the back-plate on the TM-side plug, it has reduced the space needed for mounting some.
