Hi all. Was hoping to get some input here on everyone's leadcore setup at SML. I'm looking to add two leadcore rods to my arsenal and had some questions for the guys that pull them here before I buy.

1. What size reel are you using?
2. How much backing should I expect to load?
3. Are you using full core (10 colors) or half?
4. Medium or MH action rods

Looking forward to hopefully contributing to the site once I start fishing SML more regularly (currently an Anna troller). First trip scheduled this summer. Thanks

I use a 45 size cabelas depthmaster reel. I load a full core and end up using most of it at times. I don’t use a lot of backing, just enough to give a few layers of buffer. I use the regular ugly stick striper rods, medium power.

When using lead core here, I am always pulling a 3 way with a bucktail or swimbait on the bottom and a flutter spoon on the top. Most fish come on the spoon.
