The wife and I went to the reservoir this morning looking to some crappie for the freezerš We love us some crappie fillets !!! Set a minnow trap in creek behind our house last night and got us some small creek chubs to fish with. Got on water early, 7am. Started spider rigging with minnows and jig heads with gulp minnows. Started catching fish soon as we started, was actually getting more hits on the gulp but was catching more on the chubs. We missed a bunch of fish today, we probably caught 30-40 crappie only getting about 20 in boat, lost a lot right at boat. Nothing big today just eating size, all fish in 9-10ā range. Water temp was 70, and most fish caught in 10-12 feet of water. Caught two small LMB also, they went home too for frying pan, Martinsville is over run with LM around 10ā theyāve actually changed regulations on them so people will start keeping some of the small ones. You canāt keep any over 15ā
