Hey Guys. I don't really post much, but have decided to push myself to be inclusive. What an epic week my son Cory and I had. We covered water from Back Creek, to Gills Creek. I don't really do a good job with pics, but we seemed to catch fish in about every creek we fished. Not any big fish. Most were in the 30' to 32" range. I don't think we had skunks on any of the days. What a blast! We saw some really cool things, and shared some really cool special times with father and son that will be memories forever. It seemed like the fish, at least for us, were in the backs of creeks and deeper in the coves on the main lake.
Tourney Day - With the water mudding and staining so heavy in the upper lake locations that we like to fish, we decided to go with plan "B". We started out in the back of Hickory Creek. For once we had a starting location all to ourselves. Not sure if that was a good, or a bad indicator, but it was nice not having to work around other boats. We have struggled a little in the last two tournaments, so our goal was simply to put two fish in the boat. Once again we fell a little short of our goal, but that's fishing right? We managed a nice fat 32 incher in the first half hour, and then really never got another bite all day. We had a couple chases, but that was it. So much for plan "B". Would love to go back and try Plan "A", and see how that would have worked out.
Congratulations to the winners, and the placers. Thanks Mike, Tyler, and the rest of the Striper Mafia group for hosting such a great event. Like I said in the beginning, what an epic week on such a great fishery. See you all on the next go-round.
Go "Gizzard Wizzards"
