So, for the longest time I’ve wanted to go to watts to try to get on some stripers. Anyone have any information as to hotels (that will accommodate a boat), boat launch info, and things of that nature? Never been before and have wanted to do it for awhile. Going to try and get the trip planned out soon. Thanks!

I would suggest two things:
1.) Give Big Fish Outfitters a call and ask for David - tell him you are a friend of the Striper Mafia and then pick his brain a little bit about hotels, fishing intel, etc. Either that or make your first stop Big Fish Outfitters when you get to Watts Barr - just make it your first stop regardless. They are literally between Melton Hill Dam and Ft London Dam - two places you’ll likely want to give a look to break you into Watts Barr. They should be able to get you headed in the right direction.
2.) If possible, set up a trip while you are there with Todd Asher of Shadnasty Guide Service. Todd is fantastic and worth the money to learn that area bc the “good” water down there is endless and overwhelming. Todd’s dad guides on Norris and Cherokee as well - two solid striper lakes nearby.

Thank you a ton! Read up some and heard a lot about big fish outfitters and they will definitely be my first stop in the area. Didn’t know how welcoming they were to out of towners, so was alittle skeptical.

Instead of a hotel option you may want to check VRBO. problem with hotels/motels is the security aspect and the inability to charge your batteries. Also, there isn't a shortage of boatramps on Watts.

Just know that most of the ramps on the TVA system are “unimproved” in that there is a ramp but usually no pier/dock - so you’ll need to beach your boat It is what it is.....

We stayed at a campground called caney creek RV resort. They had a couple nice campers that were on sites you could stay in. We had a 22’ CC boat that was able to park on the site with the truck it was tight parking but it worked. It was a gated campground and nice. Never felt that anyone would mess with our gear. There was a boat ramp just around the corner and bait right there as well. I would suggest trailering if fishing the river arms. We trailered to fish the clinch and it wasn’t too far.
