A guy I know is having a kayak striper fishing seminar this Saturday (2/2/13) at Sportsmans Warehouse in Roanoke. It starts at 1pm. He will discuss setting up your kayak for striper fishing, etc.
Here are a couple of his videos...

Sweet. I have never thought about putting in there with my yak. I have always been to nervous to yak fish SML because of all the boat traffic it gets. But I guess fall time isnt as bad.

Kayaking at SML can be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken. When paddling I stay to one side or the other. When I don't have a light on or a flag up, I raise my paddle (bright yellow) straight up in the air and wave it back and forth anytime I hear or notice a boat approaching the area of water Im in. These things help but are of course not fool proof. I basically just always assume that no one can see me and adjust what I'm doing accordingly. Hope this helps. Check out the "visi-pole" from yakattak.com. It is an amazing device that helps yakers stay safer on the water by helping boater see you. I'm ordering one this spring

I find it difficult to see the kayaks when they are close to shore and not in my direct path. Our brains are trained to scan for motion. Even when a boat is still out in the middle of the water you will notice it mostly because your brain recognizes that the boat is moving compared to its back ground because of distance and angle. I would think that a small air horn would be great just to get someones attention if you really need it but the paddle wave definetly helps alot.

I have something similar to the Visi-pole but the flag is not as big as that one. I can see it not being much of an issue in the fall and winter time but summer on the other hand just way to many boats and way to many idiots in boats

That looks amazing. Im looking for a new yak and would love to get into that. I have a tandem thats not mine but have access to for free, but its a pain to get through the surf where its so big when I go shark fishing. What yak are you using?
