This may sound like a dumb question, but I was wondering what to do with the planer boards while moving from one fishing spot to the next ? If they are left attached to the line, the wind tends to beat them up while under way. Currently I just take them off the line completely and then re-attach them when I reach my new fishing spot. Just wondered if someone had made some sort of sleeve to attach to the rod holder.
As always- thanks for the advice ! This forum is undoubtedly the best I have ever seen.

Keep the swivel attached and then once you have attached the hook and tightened the line up and are ready to go re attach the clip to the line on the rod and they will travel that way....when you arrive at next spot unclip and deploy I was shown this as a way to do it...but I typically just take them off completely because I don't know if this causes line abrasions etc

I’ve be afraid of them knickkng the line. I take mine off. Toss them in a bucket or I have a “Tackle Web” mesh net on the back of my leaning post that I’ll put them in

If you have room you can lay the rods flat, that’s what I do. They don’t move at all.

Thanks guys ! Guess I'll just keep taking them off. Appreciate the feedback.

Interesting. This has been my latest thought project. On my boat, I have a back rail that 4 planers fit into nicely on both sides (8 total). The planers lay on the boat and the rail catches the planer rods keeping the planers all secure. Like Mward, I'm paranoid about knicking my line.
My issue is that I have to bend over to pick up the boards each time I deploy and I feel this is inefficient. I'm looking into the best way to keep my boards right next to the rod holders. There are a bunch of options out there such as a planer board caddy but that is too expensive.
Right now I'm considering some type of belt clip thingy that the metal of the board would slide into. I'm also able to slide the boards into the tight space between the boat and the bolster cushions but I'm thinking that will cause problems in the long run. Bottom line, I'm not done thinking.

Bottom line, I'm not done thinking. Pretty sure that's what they will put on your tombstone!

A friend of mine uses the driftmaster dual position rod holders & drops his planers down in the middle slot. He doesn't keep his rods in them when under way though, just the planers.

Okay, so after much thought I have finally found a solution that I am happy with! However, before revealing the final solution let's revisit the old way of doing things. As shown in the next picture, that is how I once did things. It absolutely worked for keeping my boards secure! However, it required one bend per board per deploy and usually one bend per set of boards per side to complete an area fishing cycle. And here is the "Final Solution!" As shown, the boards will be secure and there will be no more bending over! Onward and upward in my quest to be an efficient fishing machine!

I like the low cost solution lol!
However, are you sure those will ride down the lake like that and not blow out?

What happened to just wedging them between the thumbscrews for the rod holders? And, know who you fish with (myself excluded) I don’t blame you for not wanting to bend over on your boat

The other thing I am sure I would do with that set up is somehow knock all 3 boards into the water reaching for one of them...1 of them would invariably drift away and I would try to spin around to get it real quick thus tangling all the lines I had out and wrapping line around my TM prop and causing a few choice 4 letter words to come out of my mouth.
I would then promptly go back to storing them in a bucket lol
