I've been looking around for a good used Bay boat lately. I found one that looks good but I've been focused on a 4 stroke outboard and this boat has a 2005 200 ETec. I did some internet research and I've been reading some good reviews, some people saying better than a four stroke. I'm hoping someone in our little group has had some first hand experience with one. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks, Hotdog

I have one but it’s considerably smaller than the one you’re looking at. I’ve had it since 2009 and I don’t know how many thousand hours are on it but it’s a bunch. I’ve had to replace the spark plugs, oil tank, and the gear oil a couple times.
I beat the crap out of it and surprisingly it keeps on ticking. It’s just as fast as the day I bolted it on.
I’m not sure I’d ever buy another but I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of this one.

Thanks John, this info seems to match what I've been reading. The direct injection technology they use is supposedly very fuel efficient and has very low emissions keeping the EPA happy. Staying with the 2 stroke helps keep the weight down which also helps fuel economy and performance.
Thanks Mike, Hopefully Gator will chime in here.
I always shy away from new technology to see how it pans out for a few years. It sounds like this is working out. I see Evinrude has an E-Tec 2nd gen. The model I'm looking at would by 1st gen.
Thanks for the help. Keep it coming and Merry Christmas to you all.

Hotdog, I liked my E-Tec and would have one again. Only problem I have with them is they are not DIY friendly and the oil is expensive. Like anything else out there, if you take care of it-it will take care of you.

Thanks for all the replies guys. They appear to be a good choice but unfortunately I didn't move on it fast enough. the seller informed me it had already sold. The search continues.
