How much do you think color would do with a jig’s fishing ability?

Colors definately play a role. I'm no expert but the standard for stripers is usually white pearl or white ice flukes with white or chartreuse jig heads. Typically in clear water.
For more stained or muddy water more chartreuse colors seem to work better.
I've also noticed trolling artificial that red head/ white body combo lures usually do well also. Now that I just remembered that I believe ill order some red jig heads to try with flukes..😂
Edit: just realized your talking saltwater while I'm talking freshwater.

One pattern for me is often in darker stained water, the panfish will start about five feet to all the way to bottom like say 35 feet. In clear water, they stage much deeper like starting around 20 feet then towards the bottom of open water flats.
So in these scenarios, my color choosing process is more of how much light I expect to penetrate down into the water. I go metallic paint higher up in water column and more neon glows in dark deep water. Midday high sun, I go with solid color patterns of either light or dark and see which one produces more
