Has anyone had any kind of outboard service or mechanical work done at Bay Roc? I know this is the guy that used to be up Hardy Road, Harpoon Marine, but has taken over Bay Roc. I have a 2011 Mercury Optimax 175 PRO XS, just looking for somewhere a little closer to Roanoke to have regular maintenance done. Thanks

Had some work done there about 1 1/2 years ago. But it took a long time to get my boat back. Was told it would only be a week or two. Took about 2-3 months. Was told the tilt/trim unit needed replacing. I marked mine with a little paint before he started. Still the same unit when I got it back. But it worked and they only charged $70. So I just paid it and was happy that it worked and I finally got it back.

My understanding is there is a new owner running the place, took over sometime earlier this year. Just wondering if things have changed for the better.

I had some work done on a Johnson 50 hp a few years ago. It was right in middle of November and they saw all my striper gear and got boat back to me within a week so I could fish. I think the guys name was Roy? But I heard he's working somewhere else now

Not to hijack your post(already did)...where else do folks have service done? Home base for us is not far from the state park. I've gone to Parkway and Sherm's already for routine stuff. I have my share of maintenance horror stories from over the years like most folks. Actually been stranded midlake 2x and one time sank a boat, sort of...long story. Don't worry, wasn't my boat. I always like to touch base with a place before I need them and get thoughts from those that have used em.

I have nothing but good things to say about Dale and the crew at Bayside Marina in the back of Beckys creek - they are very reasonable on price and you can bring your boat via water and they will pull it without hauling fees like some of the marinas charge.... you can also make an appointment for regular services - scheduled one for 8:30 last Friday for motor & lower unit oil changes & impeller change - was done and ready to roll less than 2 hours later....

Dale and his guys at Bayside have been great. When I have an appointment, they have a trailer backed in the water waiting on me. I have been very pleased with their service.

I echo the sentiments shared here about Bayside and Dale Runyon. There has never been a time when I had an appointment that I had to wait. Everyone at Bayside has been pleasant to deal with and I have always left feeling like I had been treated fairly.
