I recently sold my bass boat because I’m looking to do a lot more stripper fishing in the future. I want something I can pull bait with but still cast the banks with in the spring. I was kicking around the idea of buying a 19ft Carolina Skiff and wondered what people thought or if they fished out of one. I’m also open to other suggestions and have thought about a fish and ski boat also.
Thanks Duane

In my opinion your money would be better spent elsewhere.

We fish out of a 2009 198dlv. We can striper fish with 4 people comfortably but if you planned to strictly cast plugs, it would be hard to fish with more than 2-3 people in our 19ft. We have a 30gal sbt2 and used to run that up front which worked fine but I ended up removing the cooler seat in the back and placing it there. More room and more comfortable this way. Ride can be rough in a chop but Im use to it by now. Love mine. If you need any advice on setting one up let me know.

I considered, and came real close to buying, a skiff before I bought my fish and ski. Do a little research on the past issues that CS has had with water between the hull and deck. I never could get comfortable with that.

Buy hooked ups Lund Alaskan... that's a fishing machine and a great deal. It's in the market place.

The water in the hull is the problem I had with mine. 2012 brand new, stored under a roof and under a boat cover and it still had enough water in the hull that it eventually cracked.
Second on buying the Alaskan. Can’t go wrong there.

Thanks for the heads up on the water between the hull problem. I am leaning more towards a fish and ski now. As for the Lund, I have looked at it and it is a very nice boat. I wish it was a little closer I would like to look at it in person.

My buddy Dan has a real nice 19' C skiff. I think he put a garboard plug in the back of his boat to drain any water that may collect in between the layers.
His boat is the 19 DLX with 90hp 4 stroke. Boat fishes great and is easy on gas. I like it. Its small and easy to manage, but big enough to handle a T top and 30gallon SBT with 3 people on board.
It is a flat bottom sled so it will beat ya up pretty good on a rough day. I think he would go with the DLV next go around if he stuck with the same boat..........

Ive got a 21dlx. Love the boat. plenty of room for fishing, pulling skiers and many other things. I simply put garboard drains in mine and resealed all the deck screws and have not had one drop come out since. no doubt it will be a rough ride in a stiff wind. this past weekend we fished the rappahannock river for stripers and made the ride all the way to tangier. for us its an all around great boat.
