Starting to outfit the pontoon and going to order a Super Bait tank. Question is for those that have them is a 35 going to surfice. The guy I am ordering from has a couple 35's and a 50 on order. The 50 is $100 more than the 35 and trying to debate if the extra $100 is worth it for the 50 or if the 50 is just overkill.

The 50 SuperBaitTank II is a BIG tank - considerbly bigger than the Creekbank 50. The Creekbank 50 is more like a SuperBaitTank II 40.
If you were loading up very heavy on gizzards on one lake and hauling them to another, or planning to try and hold a lot of bait for several days in a row, then it might be worth it - you can probably afford the footprint on the pontoon and I doubt the added weight would be noticed, but not sure it is really needed if most of your trips will be day trips on SML. The 35 would hold all the alewives you'd ever need - and it would also hold plenty of money-maker gizzards. The only time it might get small is if you are trying to load it up with big mongo gizzards - as it is not as wide (or deep?) the turn radius is going to be tighter for those big gizzards and they may bang into each other more.

Thanks for the insight. Most of the fishing is going to be SML with the occasional trip east to the James and chichohominy rivers and maybe a trip down to TN each year. I was hoping he had a 40 on order but only 35's and a 50. I am also going to occasionally stock it with bluegill and other perch for catfishing. Per chance can you adjust the amount of water that is needed to fill it? or do you have to put all 50 in the tank for it to operate?

The water level is set mainly by the height of the standpipe / filter compartment- you can adjust it a little by how much overall water you put in, but not really that much. but if you wanted to run it 1/2 full then you'd have to come up with some type of modification - probably use your own stand-pipe and not use the filter compartment (or come up with your own mod of one. I think I know a guy in GA did made some type of mod - I'll see if I can get some details from him.

I have a 35gal Super II and a 50gal Creekbank. The 50gal Creekbank is slightly larger, but the 35gal Super II should hold all the bait I need it to and I'm not shy about using BIG shad. If you were going to try to baby some big shad in it for days at a time, the 50 may come in handy. Otherwise, it's just overkill. If you cut the standpipe or replace it with a shorter piece, it will run with less water.

Mytoyz - duuhh..... brain fart - I've not used / looked at my bait tank recently enough - now I remember - the pipe comes up through the filter box, overflows and drains out the bottom of the filter box, so you could cut the pipe shorter and still use the filter box as is - and still use the scale basket. Here's a pic I found of the filter box (on the right) - you could cut that stand pipe to about the water level you want to run at the "lower" amount, then extend the tube for normal (full) operation. Then you can still use the filters, and even the scale basket (the thing on the left)

My 35 vest came new with a light that didnt work. That's my only complaint (along with that crap Keepalive aerator)..bc it appears its gonna be a major PITA to change it out. I don't like the Greylines at all...Filter system is inferior and theyre not easily modifiable like the Super IIs. I'm not sure which I like better..super II and Creekbank are about equal once you put a Danncco on the Super II.

Ok the guy in NC with the 35 dosent know when he is going to get them in and after thinking about it, space and weight isnt an issue on the pontoon so I went with the 50. The extra holding capacity will come in handy when I travel down to some other area's for weekend trips
