Thanks fellas! I love fishing for these beasts. They are so PISSED when they hit!
Oars, I put the rod tip in the water to keep the line off the bottom of the boat. It was really bad leverage and I had little control over what the fish wanted to do. 9 other rods were in the water out the sides and rear of the boat, the motor was trimmed down, and we had anchor lines in the front and rear of the boat. I was trying to get the rod around the front of the boat but I just gave up and let it ride. Just kept the rod bent and didn't let the fish have his entire way. The key to this really was proper gear and heavy line. (30lb main 50lb leader)
