Weather: Overcast, rain, calmish, Mid 40-50s
Water: 46-47 clear
Techniques: Jigging flukes, live bait on downrods
First off, sorry for the lack of reports. I fished a fair amount over the holidays and whatnot, but just didn't post any reports. Been mainly jigging and we've been catching 10-20 fish a trip for the most part. It seems like the fish are staying somewhat scattered out and haven't really schooled up good for us yet so we can really pound them. They're still feeding good in the mornings and we've been able to do pretty good jigging and casting..just not as good as I would like! The evenings haven't been as good for whatever reason. Most fish are 10lbs and under with the occasional larger fish but they've been few and far between so far for us. Anyways, on to Friday....
My buddy Brock had a coworker and his young son that have been wanting to go fishing. We settled on Friday as the day. I got some bait easily Thursday evening as a backup plan to jigging and we headed out early Friday morning. The action was a little slow to start so we stopped in a spot they had been showing up at in the mornings and just waited. We saw a couple fish and decided to drop some jigs. While we were all talking and jigging unsuccessfully, my buddy Brock looks over at Jarrett (the boy) and says, "Hey you got one on!" He jigged up the first fish of the morning all by himself! Pretty awesome start to the morning and things only got better from there. He caught multiple fish and even let us all catch a couple ourselves! We ended up with about 10-12 fish on the morning. Most came from jigging, but I think a couple came on bait.
Two throws and done!
Couple under slot were kept for the dinner table
On the way back to the dock, I showed them the underwater bridge!
