Fished the sound every morning from before daybreak till 8:30-9:00am. Caught quite a few trout but few keepers, it was a ball. I hit it a few days in the evenings till dark but never caught a fish in the evenings. I fished with fresh mullett in the surf some and caught a couple puppy drum, nothing big but both keepers in the slot. I hiked in and fished the inlet on the south side of the inlet one day, saw a few caught on bait but I was casting light tackle and didn't do any good. I did hang something in the surf one evening just before dusk on a jig with a Berkly gulp, I fought it for about 20 seconds before losing it, now that was fun!!!! I never hit a pier at all, the reports from them were not to appealing. The water was in the mid 70's. It was a family vacation so a lot of time was spent enjoying the family also. We took a 2 hour plane tour over the banks, it was incredible. It gave me a new respect for God's work. It was a great week but the surf was rough (Riptide warnings most of the week).
Went to Wanchese and saw a couple boats from Wicked Tuna/ Outer Banks. We ate at O'neals seafood market for lunch. If you haven't been there you should. They are a fishing family with a market and also serve lunch. They are right at the docks in Wanchese.
I can't wait to go back!!!!!

Sounds like you had a great time. Thanks for sharing. I've had some fun trips at the OBX myself. X2 on Oneals, some trips we would eat lunch there everyday.
