Garmin Side Vu

I have a Garmin 7v with Side Vu. This is my first unit that has Side Imaging. I am confused about what I am seeing at times. It appears I get the same image on both sides . Example: I go under a bridge staying maybe 30' off the bridge pilings on the left and maybe 60' on the right. The unit set on 40'. I get a clear image of the left pilings on the left side of the screen but on the right side of the screen I get the same image but distorted. Sometimes I see bait on the left side and I see what appears to be the same image on the right but less clear. I was wondering if I was getting some kind of reflection off the lower unit on my motor. The transducer is mounted on the left side. I tried raising the lower unit and it does seem to make a difference. I have gone over all the settings and I think I have everything set right.  Was wondering if anyone knows or experienced something like this. Thanks

It still could be possible maybe you are picking up the other piling. I'm not sure. When you see the matching images of bait are they in the black center on both sides of the line like the first picture. That means the bait is under the boat. You can see the bait is more defined on the left side so that school of bait is just under the left side of your boat. In the second picture you can see the bait is more defined on the right side. That means the bait is under the boat but more to the right side of the boat. The 3rd picture shows a school of bait 60' to my right showing up like a white cloud. There is some bait 30' to my left as well as some under the boat. The 4th is a boat i found in hatcher creek. The rest are just various pictures ive took. I'm still learning as well. I have a Garmin Echomap.

Hard structure like that will reflect on the other side if you're close enough. Same with bait and fish that are right in the edge of the beam under the boat. I see this often on my garmin.
