After a quick trip I plugged in the battery charger and noticed one bank was red on one of my 2 trolling motor batteries. I unplugged the charger then found the ground fuse was blown. When I went to replace the fuse still hooked to the batteries, not the ac.. nothing but sparks it was a dead ground. Trolling motor and everything was working fine which makes me believe it is the charger. My setup is 2 trolling motor batteries in 24v configuration with a common ground to the cranking battery. Does anyone know of anything else I should check? Its 4-5 years old so it's out of warranty is there anyplace that repairs them if so is that cost effective? If all else fails would anyone trust it to use as 2 banks, they seemed to be working fine but I left it unplugged did not know if it could be a potential fire hazard.

Had the same thing happen on my Mk 460. Was not reparable - had to replace. Before getting to that point I ran wires to/from each bank on the charger, looking for worn insulation or metal-on-metal contact (vibration and the shock of hitting wake after wake on places like SML and Anna will jar stuff loose or cause stuff to rub).
I asked about using the 3 good banks. Was told by a tech that it would be OK but, like you, I feared for a fire or shock hazard. I opted to err on the side of safety and replaced it.

Thanks Airborne.. I checked the wires and they looked good and I tried it on another battery and got the same results. Looks like time to order a new charger.

You might try calling mk at 18002276433 and maybe they could help figure it out. Just a thought.

I guess it was put in, when the boat was new which made it 5 years old and out of warranty. They said they do not repair them, even if it was under warranty they would just give me a new one.

I would sell it to someone that needs a 2 bank. I know plenty of guys that will just use it as a 2 bank. If that fuse is out on that one particular bank you wont have an issue with the other two banks.
