Well went after those little tasty perch again. Thought we would change it up a bit and try further up blackwater. We've been catching the snot out of them down lake around bull run. Looked in several different creeks before finally locating a possible school up in back of Standiford. Put lines out and moved around for about 30 min till we finally run over school. Fast action for about 5 minutes. Catching two at a time. Caught about 20 then they was gone never to be found again. Doesn't seem to be as many the further up the river you go, just my opinion. Or maybe they are changing up pattern

thanks for the report - going to take my son and chase after some on the Roanoke side on Tue and Wed I think..... any depths you were finding them holding? Mostly we been finding them in 15-20 feet of water. Sometimes suspended sometimes on the bottom. Also don't know if its a coincidence or what but most the time when we find bigger schools they are always near red clay banks. Hope that helps. Tie on two hooks when ya go, fun catching them two at a time

It's not a coincidence. There's lots of bug hatches coming out of those clay/mud bottoms. If you can find the edge between that and rocks, you're in the money.
I think they might have pushed further out into the creeks during that hot spell. They ought to be back to normal soon.
