Fished the upper bw last night for flatheads. Put in at 3 at magnum and headed up lake in search of bait. Between 4 of us we actually had a hard time getting enough descent blue gill for bait. This was telling me it was not gonna be a good night. After a few hours we finally had about 2 dozen hand sized gills and i worked my way through the shallow flats and into the bowl at ponderosa and made my way up into the river a ways. We set up and fished in the river for about 2 and half hours. Had deer all over us before dark. Only had one run in the river and it dropped it fairly quickly just killing the bait. About 10 we eased out the river through 10,000 jug lines somebody had set out in ponderosa and made our way back into the lake and set up in the back of a creek. I hadnt got all my lines out when we picked up one little guy which would be the only fish of the night. Its been some slow to non existent fishing this year for me. Seems like every time i get to go out the moon is full or they were spawning. Hoping it picks up here in the next couple weeks.
